As some of you might know Radiocity, a new FM station has started its operations in Bangalore. We, as Bangaloreans have had the privilege of getting the best of technology. We
should really feel happy about it. I appreciate Star's initiative in starting a FM station and identifying Bangalore as their first center. Whatever be the reason behind this, be it that Bangalore being unexplored or something else, I am really happy that a FM station has started in Bangalore.

I appreciate their programming methods and their lively programs which are radically different from the way Akashvani has been doing it all these days.

But like lot of people I have a point against Radiocity because they are not giving Kannada its due at all. I strongly feel that Radiocity being a completely local media should contain some Kannada content in it. If Radiocity was also reaching the Hindi belt, then we can understand the logic behind giving preference only to English and Hindi. But, what's happening is just the reverse. Their method of publicity is really good. They use different tones right from 'rickshaw driver's' to 'good yawnings'. The ones in Kannada are really good. I appreciate and enjoy this. Along with this, they should give Kannada its share by including Kannada songs. What's the point in not using Kannada at all and calling Radiocity a BaBaBaBangalore's channel. Without Kannada how can there be Bangalore's 'Bejaan Vishyaa'. I fail to understand this. People who listen to Radiocity will be familiar with the 'jargon' used above.

We all know and even they know that there is lot of Kannada music which is as good as Hindi or any other language and which is very popular too. I have observed that Radiocity is trying to cater to all tastes. In the afternoons there is old Hindi music, in the evening popular Hindi music and English music at night. But, where is Kannada ? Clearly, the Kannada speaking population is 'the biggest' in Bangalore. Then why is Kannada not given any importance ?

I am sure that any move to include Kannada will be greatly appreciated and Radiocity will become all the more popular. The sponsors know that using Kannada increases the popularity. There are lots of Kannada hits which should make it into Radiocity. Then why isn't Kannada there ?

I REQUEST ALL PEOPLE LIKE ME WHO FEEL THAT KANNADA SHOULD FIND A PLACE TO WRITE
STRONGLY TO RADIOCITY ASKING THEM TO BRING IN LOCAL FLAVOR AND RESPECT THE
LOCAL LANGUAGE.

There have been several protests against Radiocity by kannada organizations. They have a really strong point. Their protests should be supported by all sensible people. I hope that letter invokes a large response and I only pray that Kannada is given its due. Their feedback address is feedback@radiocityfm.net
