Dear Sir,
Being a citizen of Karnataka State and a Kannadiga, I feel sorry about Vachanabhrashta and Adhikaradahi politicians like Deve Gowda, Kumaraswamy and, of course, B. S. Yeddyurappa.

Dear Sir,
It is ironic that though JD (S) was third in the 2004 election with a fractured mandate, it is the JD (S), which has been in power all these three – and - half years, once with Congress and second time with BJP.

Dear Sir,
I watched H. D. Kumaraswamy on TV9 Channel and tried to call him up on telephone to say that his effort to convince the viewers was like a bald man trying to convince people to buy his hair tonic.

Dear Sir,
A wag says that the word “Poli” in “Politics” in Latin means “many”. The word "tics" stands for the blood sucking parasite! The JD (S) and Congress are single mindedly trying to convince people again and again that “politics” is their life's mission.

Dear Sir,
The BJP could get 79 seats in the 2004 election because of Ananth Kumar, the then President of BJP, Karnataka Unit. However, surprisingly due to internal dissension, Ananth Kumar was put in cold storage and later pushed out of the State, making way for Yeddyurappa.

Dear Sir,
I had written to you four days ago a letter titled "Yeddyurappa commits Harakiri." I had said in that letter whether it would be a 7 - day wonder. It was prophetic. That is exactly what happened now.

The above are extracts from numerous letters I received yesterday and today following the fall of BJP led Karnataka coalition (collision) government. They speak for themselves. — Editor.

Honey, it is money. That was the ONLY reason why H. D. Deve Gowda, JD (S) supremo and his equally unprincipled son H. D. Kumaraswamy wanted those two most remunerative portfolios — (1) The Mines and Geology, (2) The Housing and Urban Development. These are the two Ministries where there is unlimited scope to make money through illegal means. These are also the Ministries where JD (S) has a very huge stake — both of money and legal problems.

If it is the commitments to land mafia in the matter of denotification of thousands of acres of lands, it is the Reddys of Bellary, the mining kings, who are causing nightmare to JD (S), specially the Gowda family, as already reported in newspapers. Therefore, it is not surprising the JD (S) supremo was adamant in getting these two portfolios to one of his two sons — H. D. Kumaraswamy or his elder brother H. D. Revanna.

Unfortunately for them the BJP High Command knows what it should not give to JD (S) and the result is here for all of us to see. One is in politics, no doubt, for power. It could also be to serve the people through political power which is easy in a country like ours where there is self - rule. Naturally, one cannot be blamed if there is also self - interest in seeking power. But, it should be, at least, enlightened self - interest. Only then can one serve the people as a politician. Sadly, Gowda family is too obsessed with its own overweening ambition to acquire power and through it wealth rather than serve the 5.5 crore people (as Kumaraswamy repeatedly mentions this figure) of Karnataka.

As I write this (11.40 am) H. D. Deve Gowda is waiting at his No. 5 Safdarjung Lane house in Delhi for a call from the Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi. Our Delhi correspondent tells me, the chances of getting a call from Sonia is very bleak in view of the decision already taken by the Union Cabinet this morning at 8 am. But then hope has indeed been Deve Gowda's political staple food all these years and he has succeeded too, if you look at the people in politics whom he has betrayed. The latest one, after Siddharamaiah and M. P. Prakash, is B. S. Yeddyurappa.

Sometimes I wonder if Gowda's success, despite an unstable weak political party, is due to the grace of Gods and Goddesses he worships with vermilion and sandal paste smeared prominently on his broad forehead or on the bridge of his big nose.

But look at BJP's Yeddyurappa. He seems to be competing with Gowda in visiting temples and who knows, the astrologers too! Remember the former Chief Minister (of 7 - day wonder) Yeddyurappa visiting Vaishnodevi temple in J & K twice in lightning speed in 8 days? Once on the day President's Rule was revoked and the second time when he took oath as Chief Minister without a single Minister from JD (S). Well, he should have smelt a rat then itself. But then, as newly sworn Chief Minister, he was in his own perfumed paradise! He couldn't smell the rat!!

It seems a senior leader in Delhi, where Gowda arrived last night to woo Sonia Gandhi (or fool her once again?) and is still camping, told a reporter rather sarcastically in utter disgust at Gowda's skill in betraying, "He will come and see the weather." Not Sonia. Let us see. Miracles can always happen. Especially with Deve Gowda, if not with Sonia.

Talking of weather, I am reminded of weathercocks! You know what it means. And now you know who is the political weathercock in Karnataka. In London, where weather is always inclement and wet, the wise say that “everybody complains about the weather, but nobody does anything about it”. Well, nobody can do anything about it. So also with Deve Gowda. Nobody can do anything about him. He is also known as a fair - weather friend among his political victims I mentioned above.

Don't be surprised if Sonia Gandhi yields to Gowda's overtures. Like hypnotized, one simply surrenders to his spell. And we may get a third and, hopefully, last coalition government before the general election. After all, miracles can always happen!
