Former Orissa Governor Rameshwar Thakur was sworn - in as Governor of Karnataka at Raj Bhavan in Bangalore on 21st of August afternoon.
Chief Justice of Karnataka Justice Cyriac Joseph administered the oath of office and Secrecy to the new Governor in English for nearly 90 seconds at the Glass House in Raj Bhavan premises.

The outgoing Governor T. N. Chathurvedi, Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph, Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa were on the dais.
Former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda, PWD Minister H. D. Revanna, Assembly Speaker Krishna, Legislative Council Chairman Prof. B. K. Chandrashekhar, KPCC President Mallikarjun Kharge, Vice - President N. Y. Hanumanthappa, former Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh, Lok Ayukta Justice N. Santhosh Hegde, Upa Lok Ayukta Justice Patri Basavanagowda, former Union Minister C. K. Jaffer Sharief, Home Minister M. P. Prakash, Housing Minister D. T. Jaya Kumar, MLC N. Manjunath and many other dignitaries were present at the ceremony.
Thakur's family members including his wife Narmada Thakur, daughters Mrudula and Sangeetha Thakur and grand daughter Madhavi Dutt were also present.
The simple swearing in ceremony began at 11.55 am with Thakur coming in a procession from Raj Bhavan to Glass House accompanied by the outgoing Governor T. N. Chathurvedi, Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Chief Secretary P. B. Mahishi.
National Anthem was rendered at 12 noon. The Chief Secretary read out the order of President of India appointing Thakur as Governor of Karnataka at 12.02 pm.
The oath was administered at 12.04 pm. The ceremony concluded at 12.09 pm.
Thakur arrived in Bangalore from Delhi on 21st of August morning.
