In a dramatic turn of events, the JD (S) decided to extend its support to BJP to form a coalition Government hardly 25 days after the fall of the previous JD (S) - BJP coalition.
Former CM H. D. Kumaraswamy's talks with RSS top leaders had been fruitful and the JD (S) announced its support to BJP.

The JD (S) has agreed to accept former Deputy Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa as the Chief Minister in the new coalition Government.
It is also said that the BJP High Command had given a “green signal” last night to the State BJP leaders to revive alliance with JD (S), which had committed “worst ever betrayal in Indian politics”, as described by themselves when Kumaraswamy failed to transfer power to Yediyurappa on Oct. 3 as promised when they formed a coalition Government in February 2006.
JD (S) MLAs meet:
Former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy began a meeting at his Guest House on Bellary Road this morning, i. e. 27 th October 2007.
The party leaders were busy preparing a letter extending support to BJP, which was submitted to the Governor Rameshwar Thakur at 3. 30 p. m. today.
In all, 30 MLAs of JD(S) loyal to Kumaraswamy attended the meeting.
Gowda in Delhi?
It is not known whether JD (S) supremo H. D. Deve Gowda, currently in Delhi since Thursday, has his “tacit” blessings, to the revival of ties with BJP, which he considers “communal”.
He may later claim that the understanding between his son and BJP was reached without his knowledge, as he did when Kumaraswamy struck an alliance with BJP in January 2006.
It is significant to note that Deve Gowda' s close aide JD (S) and spokesman Y. S. U. Datta rushed to Yediyurappa's residence this morning. It shows that but for Deve Gowda's nod, Datta would have not visited Yediyurappa's residence.
Rumours suggest that Gowda had talks with Sonia Gandhi's Political Secretary Ahmed Patel yesterday over Government formation.
Siddu is catalyst!
In fact, it is former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramiaha who triggered Government formation mood in JD (S) camp after he met former Home Minister M. P. Prakash who is moving heaven and earth to form Government in coalition with Congress. Thus Congress (and Siddaramiaha) can have a hold over JD(S) and its supremo.
On learning that Siddu will steal the show and settle score with him (Kumaraswamy) if allowed formation of JD (S) - Congress coalition, Kumaraswamy had last evening offered support to Congress on a condition that Prakash should be made the Chief Minister.
Prakash in dilemma:
Kumaraswamy's overnight decision to go with BJP has landed the Chief Ministerial aspirant M. P. Prakash in a fix as he has already landed in Delhi along with 14 supporters.
The decision may break the Prakash faction as his followers are interested only in Government formation, to save their MLAs' seats, with “any leader”.
They may desert Prakash once the Government is formed leaving him in the lurch.
