Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy today expanded his JD (S) - BJP coalition Cabinet inducting 20 Ministers. Nine Ministers from JD (S) and 11 from BJP were sworn - in in the morning between 10.10 am and 10.40 am. The huge crowd cheered as the Chief Minister Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa came to the dais for the ceremony with folded hands.
Governor T. N. Chaturvedi administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new Ministers at a ceremony held at the portals of the Vidhana Soudha.
Basavaraj S. Horatti (JD - S) was the first to be sworn - in. He took the oath in the name of Constitution.
JD (S) Ministers C. Chennigappa, D. T. Jayakumar, N. Cheluvarayaswamy, Bapugowda Darshanapur, Bandeppa Kashampur, Alkod Hanumanthappa and Balachandra Jharkiholi took the oath in the name of Bhagavantha (God).
Iqbal Ansari (JD - S), the lone Minister from Muslim community, took the oath in the name of Allah (God). He concluded the oath with the slogan Jai Hind, Jai Karnataka.
The BJP Ministers, who took the oath, are: K.S. Eshwarappa, Jagadish Shettar, D.H. Shankaramurthy, P. Ramachandra Gowda, Dr. V.S. Acharya, C.M. Udasi, Govind Karjol, R. Ashok, Katta Subramanya Naidu, B. Sriramulu and B. Nagaraj Shetty.
Nagaraj Shetty began and concluded the oath with Hari Om.
A large crowd of activists of both the parties and the fans of the Ministers had gathered in front of the Vidhana Soudha.
Crackers:
There was a thunderous applause when Govind Karjol was taking oath. The fans burst crackers as R. Ashok began reading the oath.
Katta Subramanya Naidu's supporters burst crackers throughout while he was taking the oath. The deafening sound briefly interrupted the ceremony. Both the Governor Chaturvedi and Naidu had to read the text in a raised voice.
D. T. Jayakumar is the only Minister from Mysore and Chamarajanagar districts.
Former Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh, BJP National Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu, National General Secretary Ananth Kumar, former JD (S) Minister D. Manjunath, former Bihar Governor Justice Rama Jois and other dignitaries were present.
