Zameer Ahmed Khan, Minister for Wakf, who had threatened to quit the Cabinet, submitted his resignation to the Governor T. N. Chaturvedi today.
He came in a private car to the Raj Bhavan at 11 am and was with the Governor for about 30 minutes.
Emerging from the Raj Bhavan, the Minister told the media persons that he would continue in the Cabinet only if the Chief Minister tenders an apology.

"The Chief Minister should apologise for hurting the sentiments of my community by not attending the Bakrid prayers yesterday," he added. He said that he was not interested to discuss the issue with the Chief Minister. Khan also clarified that he would not resign as the MLA. "I will also attend the brain - storming session of JD (S) Legislators at Pune," he said.
Khan claimed that his relationship with the Chief Minister was good and it was nothing to do with the resignation.
Reacting to the Chief Minister's claims that the coalition Government had done a lot for the welfare of the Muslim community in the last 10 months, he said: "Yes, I am not disputing this. The Government under the leadership of Kumaraswamy has strived for improving the conditions of the community."
Regarding the grant of five acres of land for a community hall for Muslims on the outskirts of Bangalore, Khan said that it was the Government land. "It is not the personal property of the Chief Minister. I have also donated lands to the Muslim community in Ramnagar. But I have not done it for publicity" he said.
He said he would drop a copy of the resignation at the Chief Minister's residence Anugraha as Kumaraswamy was away at Devanahalli in connection with a function.
It is learnt that the Governor would inform the Chief Minister about the resignation letter submitted by the Minister to him.
