Mangalore
- a haven for Flesh Trade ???
Mangalore
from days bygone has been always been compared to mini
Bombay. The affluence of the people, the western influence
on their lifestyles, their dress sense etc..has been a
matter of pride for the city, for even the capital of
the state, learns its fashion, lifestyle etc. from this
coastal city. However with all things come the bad things
and Mangalore is not far behind Bombay as far as mafia
wars, flesh trade, smuggling and other nefarious activities
are concerned. This week I take you round the city where
flesh trade has been going on undeterred with the connivance
of a few public servants, who in their quest for richness
seem to have compromised on their values.
Let
me take you to the Kudroli area near the famous Gokarnatheshwara
temple. Here exists a lodge which makes its money through
is anti -social, Immoral activity. The result ? Sex starved
Maniacs flock to this area as the evening sets in, and
enter the houses of decent people in the locality asking
"maal Unda", "piece Unda" which incidentally is the codename
for a Call girl in the local Tulu dialect. Well Business
should be carried on for the society. There should be
a social responsibility. We read this in our text books
on business organisation and mangement. I guess this is
what we call Business for the society!
Another
area is the downtown Old kent Road with its dilapidated
lodges which invites open heartedly men and women of loose
morals, to experience a night of passion! No doubt this
road houses some of the most decent and affluent families
of the district. but alas, their voice is not heard by
anyone. A call to the Corporation or The police station
would get you into trouble as usually the guardians of
law too are hand in glove with these brothel keepers.
One
of the areas which make it to the yellow pages of sex
is Kankanady. Accoring to a confidential source, even
students studying in various professional colleges sell
their bodies to earn a few bucks so as to live a life
of glamour and luxury like their classmates. A flashback
will remind us that in April last year the police of the
city had apprehended a ring called the Hi-tech prostitution
ring, which has a clientele ranging from doctors to highly
placed executives. Amidst all this chaos stand tall our
heroes. The upright guardians of law like Mr. B. J. Bhandari,
Sri. Shantappa, Sri. TCM Shareef , Sri Pankaj Kumar Thakur
whose whole hearted efforts have borne fruit, the havens
of Flesh trade in the kankanady area have now shifted
over to other areas.
There
are Hundreds of Womens right organizations, Jana Hita
vedike's , Public Interest groups etc.. who make a hue
and cry when immoral activities like these take place.
But it is a tragedy that usually they do not have the
will or the courage to fight against these anomalies.
They would prefer to float with the current rather than
swim against it and be in the bad books of the people
involved in these immoral activities, for most of them
are influential men of honour! Its time the Citizens of
Mangalore Wake up and Fight before Mangalore too follows
the footsteps of Mumbai and gets the distinction of having
a red light area, in the heart of the city!

Water
testing campaign: For the first time in Mangalore
a campaign for testing the purity of the water that we
drink has been organised under the auspices of TEC services
in association with KREC Step. In this regard, at a press
conference held last week the former deputy mayor of the
MCC, Ms. Judith Mascarenhas explained to us the necessity
of such testing. water is one of the very important requirements
of man. Man may go without food but he can never live
without water. water is the source of life. thewater that
we use should be clean and free from pollutants. or else
there is a possibility of getting a variety of water borne
diseases. hence in order to test the purity of the water
that we use, as well as to create an awareness among the
people as regards maintaining the purity of water TEC
services has been established. heres a look.
