JAGADGURU SRI SHIVARATHRISHWARA LAW COLLEGE (JSS) MYSORE.

THE INSTITUTE:
J.S.S. Law College is one of the premier institutions of legal studies affiliated to the University of Mysore, which is one of the oldest and prestigious Universities in India. It is managed by J.S.S. Mahavidyapeetha, which has over 200 educational institutions spread all over India and Abroad.

The Institute was the vision of the founder President His Holiness Late Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Maha Swamiji. He contributed to the educational need of the law students with diverge background equipping them with newly validated theories and approaches for the challenges in the field of law.

The Faculty, Staff and students share a deep belief in the Programs of the Institute. The teaching and learning processes is facilitated unique atmosphere of mutual respect, participation and interaction.

The Program attracts students from all over India and abroad.

L.L.B. PROGRAMME: The program is a three and five years duration, which ensures a strong theoretical and empirical base. In the 5-year program the students are exposed to social disciplines. Only Graduates having 45% marks are admitted to 3-year program. Students who have completed 10+2-obtaining minimum 45% are admitted to 5-year program.

COMPUTER APPLICATION: Students are trained in the use of computers and their applications in the field of law. J.S.S. Law College views computer usage and application as an integral part of legal education.

LIBRARY: Students have access to over 7,000 books and 20 periodicals in the field of law and general studies. The Library consists of Social, Legal and General Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, yearbooks and General books of Knowledge. The computer-based catalogue provides quick access to Library holdings. Classified indexing is in operation on the basis of Titles, Subjects, and Authors.

HOSTEL: Hostels are well equipped to cater to the needs of boys and girls separately. Hostels facilities are available exclusively for foreign students.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY: Classroom lectures/Seminars/Tutorials/Assignments and Moot Courts. Legal aid program to the rural mass is an obligatory co-curricular activity.

REGULATIONS: Students will be placed under senior advocates to inculcate the practical skills and know how of the profession. Senior students have to submit a research report after field study. Placement of students during vacation for chamber experience of senior advocates is a part of the Course.

SPECIAL LECTURE SERIES: By professionals in the field of: Career development, general laws and current affairs. Yearly workshops are conducted on relevant subjects such as Consumerism and environment etc.

TRACK RECORDS: The college is securing maximum number of ranks every year in the examination conducted by the Mysore University.

Our students are participating in moot court competitions at the state and national levels.

In sports the Basket Ball and Table Tennis teams of the college have won laurels at University and regional levels.

STUDENTS ACTIVITIES: Yearly competitions are conducted to give exposure to the students in sports, literary talents and music.

Ample opportunities for extra curricular activities such as music and elocution are provided. National Service Scheme unit is actively training the students in service-motivated programs. Participation of students in Legal Awareness programs in rural areas.

The students are running a wall magazine "DRISHTI" which is a fortnight one. The old students Mr. Sandeep Shenoy and Mr. Jaya Prakash Devavrinda started the magazine in 1998.

ALUMNI: Students graduating from college are pursuing higher education in various national and international Universities. They are serving the legal profession as advocates and judges in District and High Courts all over the country. Students of the college have taken competitive examinations such as K.A.S. & I.A.S. successfully. Graduates of the college are serving in executive and judicial services all over the country. Many students are doing research and serving as academicians in different Universities.

In the last academic year the college bagged 13 ranks and set a record in Mysore University.
