We get quite a few emails from our visitors every single day. Some are requests, some are reporting problems, some contribute their poems, articles, movie reviews, some want to help us, some are sick and tired of us!. Feedback are usually good.. sometimes really good and very rarely outright nasty.

OurKarnataka.Com (OKC) Team would like to say "Thank you, All!!" and we apologize if you didn't get any response for your email. We try to answer as many emails as we possibly can and we have tried very hard to reply as soon as possible and to everyone. Since the whole show is managed in our spare-time some of you may not have received a reply.

So, we have decided to publish at least a few of the feedbacks in a page. We would also rate a "feedback of the month" and hopefully send out a prize!!

Yours

BDA works in Koramangala

I am from Bengal. And like most boys from good schools and colleges, I was always taught by my teachers and parent to do my works on my own. And I always try to abide by their simple yet very strong advice. Honestly speaking, not that I enjoy it always but then I do not have the luxury of paying extra bills to agents and touts. I live in Koramangala and the BDA Complex here harbours a whole lot of Government Offices, starting from Railway Booking Counters and Bangalore telecom customer service office to RT office. All these work absolutely fine and sometimes much better than you really expect them to work.

But unfortunately many of us still have those old habits of running behind agents and touts. They feel that their life will be simpler if they get everything done by a third person for a mere( according to them ) expenditure of 500 extra rupees. But let me inform my those friends that go ahead and do whatever you really need to do in just minutes and without paying a single extra penny to those unwanted third parties.

Believe me, you will feel fresh, comfortable and satisfied when you finish your job with a heavier wallet. And most importantly you will not have to repent on a third person's mistakes if he makes one. All that you need my friends, is a little bit of patience, time and courage to do your works on your own.

Comments : I really admired the Karnataka History.  I am very keen to learn about it.  My knowledge of Karnataka history is extremely sketchy and it is limited to my high school history of 1950/53.  I would appreciate very much if you could suggest a suitable book  Also I find it hard to follow the high sounding kannada word apt of course, used in those articles due to lapse on account my inability to remain close to kannada kasturi due to circumstances.  It would be extremely beneficial if some articles of this nature was written in English possible.  I appreciate your motive to help Kannadigas to avail the benefit Kannada language.
OKC: The good news is.. one of the OKC visitors has decided to take the plunge and translate the history articles to English. We will publish them within a week!

Comments : Hi,
It is good to see something about Konkani in this site. Good effort. I would like to indicate few points regarding Konkani based on my knowledge gained through years of study and analysis. As you have indicated, Konkani is not a mixture of Marathi and Hindi. It is an independent language evolved through ages. Konkani has influence of other languages by way of enterprising character of Konkanis. Oldest literary work so far found is in Konkani and not in Marathi( This has been confirmed by greatest litterateurs.). Konkani is developed based on Sanskrit. You can get many Sanskrit origin words in Konkani rather than in Marathi. Konkani is not only spoken by Saraswaths and Christians but also by other Hindu brethrens and Muslims as well. I hope that you will be able to get authentic information in various Konkani website articles contributed by famous writers or through reliable collections. This is for your kind information
Thanks.

Subject : Note the accepted spelling
Article : I feel it hard to digest the spelling of manusmruthi, shruthi etc. Those who use Baraha, it seems that they do not know how to write them correctly for correct spelling output of smruthi it would be smRuthi. Similarly for shruthi it would be shRuthi. I notice the wrong use of these consistently. Since I do not know how to select fonts within this box, I am unable to write in Kannada. But my suggestion will work.
OKC: Dear Sir, Thanks a lot for pointing out the mistakes. We try our best to minimize the mistakes and we do know we can not guarantee that we can get it right 100%. We would definitely correct the glaring mistakes if you point it out.

Comments : HI, I'm a born & bred Mysorean, now living in the US. I came across the site for the first time today & was mighty thrilled to see a Kannada Forum on the Net. It's great. My only suggestion is that all the articles that u have in Kannada (including the recipes) have a link for it's English version so that many more people can know about Karnataka.
Regards, Vani Srikanta
OKC: Maa'm, we try our best to provide some content in English and Kannada.. but we will all have to wait for the days when we can provide the same article in Kannada and English simultaneously. We have been looking to do this and we promise to to do something about it in the coming months.

Subject : Shaving blades
Hi!
I need some practical suggestions from the readers of this section.
I have got used-shaving-blades with me and I'm in dilemma how to dispose it off. I strongly feel that if I dispose it by throwing in the dust bin, there is a possibility that cattle and other stay animals may consume it, thereby hurting themselves.

I would really appreciate if someone could suggest me as how shall I dispose my shaving blades so that it does not affect the animals and the environment around.
Thanks, Chandan Bhatia

OKC: The question you have asked is an interesting one and I looked around for any guidelines (in India) and obviously didn't find any. I can only think of carefully packing the blade(s) in a hardcover and sealing it before throwing it away so that the blades won't cut anyone or anything. This is what the University of Berkeley, California guidelines say!

Comments : So what is u'r conclusion? What information u wanted to give to the readers. I did not get the jist of what u wanted to tell by scolding Raj's family all along. What's that granite story? I strongly oppose and condemn so called Kannadigas like this bloke who wrote this article. He seems to have no work other than writing stupid article like this. Its not the proper way to treat a person who is still and ever will be heart and soul of whole kannada populace. I condemn the guys who put these kind of article in their web site. This is the reason why kannada culture has not grown as other languages( If any Tom, Dick & Harry can write any thing on how can kannada survive). Subject : Chanakya's is the main architect of American Constitution.
Article : Refer to Aîµ±°‹N¯ š®ºïu¯w®u® î®±²©þªÞ-„¯Š®r°‡®±????

You are absolutely right. America has been very much successful in implementing Chanakya's laws except for some self interested foreign policies. And one of the biggest idea of Chanakya which America has implemented is " allowing the intelligent and sincere workers from anywhere to come and work in US." This is what Chanakya also stressed; Never ever neglect intelligent and loyal people.

During Chanakya's time, there was one minister by name Amathya Rakshasa, who was working for Nanda Dynasty. Amathya Rakshasa was a brilliant minister at the same time a very sincere and loyal towards their king of Nanda Dynasty. When Chandragupta maurya with Chanakya's help killed Nanda rules and wanted to kill even Amathya Rakshasa, Chanakya stopped him and said never make the mistake of killing Amathya Rakshasa. You will lose one brilliant minsiter, and if you are wise king make such that Amathya works for you as a Minister. Since Chanakya knew Amathya's loyalness, he with his all knowledge made such a plan that in the end Amathya became a minister of Chandragupta Maurya.

The same way it is happening now in America. Americans know the loyal ness of Indians and intellectual power of Indians. So they invite Indians to work in their country and they give every facility which you can hardly expect India. And what is that an Indian needs, petty desires like car, a good house and continuous supply of water, electricity etc. And now India has become a biggest intellectual exporter for America. And now a days people think it is a big achievement, what an irony!!.

The maximum number of PhD's in economics are Indians, but look at the state of Indian economy and what are these guys doing . They are all working for American companies like Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers and these same Indians are framing policies which are directed against poor countries like India, and they are just acting as loyal workers to those companies. We should remember one thing, what ever may be the intellectual power of Indian's, American's are far more intelligent and wise. Just the way as Chanakya and Amathya Rakshasa. Indian's are just like Amathy Rakshasa just be loyal, whoever the master is.

Subject : Making Best Use of Old Age...
A thought while reading the earlier article on Old Age (Vrudhapya).

In olden days, the 4th Ashrama (phase of a Lifetime) known as Vanaprastha Ashrama was possibly meant for exclusive time for the aged people to accomplish whatever they weren't able to achieve earlier. Going away from the family probably is symbolic in terms of
getting detached from their next generation.

Nowadays, the dependency of the aged and the next generation has become mutual. Due to this, the aged parents never get a feeling that their responsibilities towards the next generation has to subside. May be because that they feel the next generation is incompetent (it may be really so). In that case, the most ideal situation would be to remain detached so that the next generation takes responsibilities on their own, err and learn through mistakes.

If possible, the aged parents could offer suggestions and leave it at that rather than insisting.
Many cases, the aged parents would never want to see their children undergo any pains or turmoil, so at that point interference increases and naturally the tendency of diminishing responsibilities begins. Yet another scenario would be ego clashes in terms of abiding by the suggestions and going in one's own way.

Both scenarios are quite unhealthy. Hence, it would be more appropriate if the aged could plan their activities with attached de-attachment with the existing family. There are more than one ways of keeping oneself occupied like unaccomplished activities, newer hobbies which they had not ventured in the past. At the same time, their precious experience should be made available to the newer generation. This way, life becomes interesting/existing for them, since they would have purpose in life. The question of negligence, or getting importance etc would never exist or persist for long. The purposeful life obviously would be within the economics of the family.

Subject : ORGANIC FARMING/ RAIN WATER HARVESTING
There is so much contribution to this field from our Karnataka, any awards to people like Cherkadi Ramachandra will be like salt to sea, Vijaya angadi of Hassan is a crusader of local farmers, was threatened once by govt. officials as if there is any low productivity in Hassan dist it would be because of Vijay angadi, In Mysore, Ravi kumar of NESARA/CART has made us to open our eyes towards the Ecofriendliness.

These are only few of the unsung heroes. Organic farm is in a new dimension in Karnataka, For those who are interested to see what is an eco friendly farm where no poisons are put to mother earth, To visit any of the organic farms you can contact NESARA which is trying to cater Organic produces to citizens of Mysore. Ravi Kumar is a model for rain water harvesting, you have to see to believe drinking water is no more through pipes of corporation, it is through your own roof. I will keep in touch for the interested,

Every person who has visited RTO would have experienced new dimensions of corruption, but the experience I had has forced me to think that corruption in these offices has had a greater influence on all those who are directly or indirectly associated with it.

Believe it or not- no court fee stamps are available in the counter (reason, they have to be sold at the actual price) but don't worry, they are available out side the counters at 2-3 times the original rate- (special service, you know) may be some time in future, you will have to pay just to enter the premises of RTO offices.

You have rightly said. These people are not only killing English, they are also killing kannada. At times when they really have to speak in kannada, they struggle for kannada words and they have formed there own style of English and Kannada language. I overheard a conversation between two girls. I am still thinking in which language they were speaking. The cnversation was like this "node ee dress purchase maadi six months aagilla around 6 times wash maadidhini, nodidhare original colour fade aagi aagi different colour bandidhe".

OKC: We have stopped the music service almost a year ago, as we didn't want to violate any copyright laws. We are working out a solution, and hopefully, we will get the music service back soon.

Article :
namaskara readers,
As all of u know, the world is in to a big crisis now. most of us know the
reason. it was the attack on the WTC towers in America which has created this
crisis. America, which calls itself the protector of human rights all around the
world and act as a bully is out to attack Afghanistan seeking revenge for the
attacks. here i would not like to debate about the impending crisis but i would
like to go into some of the drawbacks of America for which it is disliked among
many .

I too dislike America and its policies. its common sense that if one fellow tries to dominate many he will certainly have to face opposition and that is what exactly is happening to America now. it thinks that it has all right to dominate and police the whole world. and let Americans remember that the world is not America and the world itself is not America. It may have achieved a lot in
the field of technology and sciences, but it has no right to think that all that
happens over this planet should go on according to its will. let them change their partisan policies and divisive politics and then will they be ,if not liked but at least not disliked as they are now all around the world.

one of their such policy can be seen openly. They say that they are out to wipe out terrorism and have aligned with the greatest abettor of terrorism , "Pakistan". hey let those hypocrite rulers rethink their policy and try to be friends with the world and not autocrats

Both Sides of the Story!
Response from the writer to Bhaskar Chakrapani's Views on Dr.Raj Article.
Mr. Chakrapani must know how he should write and it’s of no use in shouting from rooftops and calling other stupid or ignorant. He cannot shut the mouths of hundreds of thousands of people who are criticizing Rajkumar and his family for the deeds, behavior during the time of his captivity.  Here, the question of humanism doesn’t arise at all. I have neither any grudge nor any ill feeling about Rajkumar and his family. Let Mr. Chakrapani come to his senses before coming to such unwanted conclusion. That’s all.  Read On
