Campaign to increase SHG's:
Zilla Panchayat president G.T.Indira said, "rural women
must get involved", and increase the number of Self Help
Groups (SHG). Inaugurating the publicity campaign at Kanathur,
she told that women should achieve self-reliance. Saksharatha
Yojane's S.S.Pasha, Krishnasetty BEO and others spoke
on the occasion. Panchayat president Jagadish presided
over the campaign.

Development plan: A Rs. 52 crore plan project has
been prepared for the comprehensive development of Halebedu
and Belur, the world famous Hoysala historical towns,
said Executive Engineer Chandrashekhariah. Presided over
a seminar on tourism opportunities in the district at
the youth hostel at Hassan he told that the project would
implemented after it was formally approved by the competent
authorities.

ZP meet: The Hassan Zilla Panchayat general meeting
was held at Lalitha Kripa on March 24, the Panchayat said
in an official release to the media.

Bank release credit plan: Canara Bank, which is the
leading bank in the Hassan district, released the district
credit plan for the year 2001 on March 23.

SSLC students debarred: Two SSLC students, C.M.Madhu
and M.N Manjunath, who wrote their exams at the Adhichunchanagiri
College in C.R.Patna, have been debarred from taking SSLC
exam as they were found copying in the examination.

Construction workers protest: Karnataka State Construction
Workers Association members held a procession in the City
on Wednesday to protest against the delay in implementing
the Unorganized Workers Welfare Bill by the State Government.
The agitators demanded that the Government pass the Bill
in the ensuing Budget session of the Assembly. Convener
Ramegowda H.T and other leaders led the agitation.
7.
Property seized: Recovery Officer of the Employees
Provident Fund Organization attached and seized the immovable
property of the Yelanadu Jagadguru Education Society,
Arasikere for non-payment of the Employees Provident Fund
dues amounting to Rs. 26153. The officer has also issued
an arrest warrant against the society secretary Malleshappa
Chellapura.
