MLA A Manju has attempted to build houses sanctioned by

release of Cauvery waters to TN:
The people of Karnataka should raise their voice
against the judgment given by the Cauvery River Water
Authority headed by the Prime Minister, said H K
Javaregowda, Rajya Sabha member. Addressing a huge public
meeting organized by the JD (S) in the Deputy
Commissioner's office premises against the Cauvery
Authority judgment, he said it reflected the inefficiency
of the state Government, which has not supplied the
correct statistics for getting justice in the Supreme
court. It is now the duty of the people to show that the
courts are not above the people and nation, he claimed.

Ryots to take over
reservoirs:
The Ryot Sangha will take up the management of all the
reservoirs in the State since the government had failed to
protect the interests of the ryots, declared Prof M. D.
Nanjundaswamy, president, KRRS. He told media persons here
on Wednesday that the ryots had already taken over the
Kabini reservoir and the others will also be taken over.
Earlier, the State Cabinet had taken a decision not to

communicated the same to the Supreme Court and the river
tribunal, but it had gone against its decision and was now
facing a crucial situation, he said. Chief Minister S M
Krishna, without understanding the consequences, had
expressed his happiness over the decision of releasing
9000 cusecs of water daily when there is no water even for
drinking in many cities and towns depending on these
reservoirs, he said.
Farmers to sell neera:
The State Government is deliberately delaying framing
the neera selling rules and regulations, hence the Ryot

Forest and wood
science demonstration:
Forest preservation is the responsibility of each and
every citizen, observed H. G. Ramesh, district and session
judge, on Friday. Inaugurating the demonstration on forest
and wood science under the auspices of the Institute of
Forest and Wood Science Technology, Bangalore, at Parisara
Mahiti Kendra, Gendekatte, about seven km from here, he
said the Forest officers should educate the farmers who
are hesitating to grow trees in their lands due to
stringent rules. Unless the Farmers are trained and
offered incentives to grow trees the forestation goal
could not be achieved, he declared. There is the social
forestry department to develop the forest wealth, but the
achievement has been modest in the absence of people's
participation, Ramesh pointed out.
