Former
Minister Mr. Roshan Baig, who resigned in the backdrop of
the multi crore fake stamp paper scam, is reported to have,
sort of, answered the question that was being asked since
Sunday 'Where is Roshan Baig'? Saying "I am in Mecca".
This
is how he explained telephonically, during an interview,
the reason for resigning and how he is going to face the
future.
Why
did you resign?
I was quite fed up. It was the same story morning, evening
and all night. I had no respite at all. How much can I tolerate?
If
it was so, why did you resign now?
I wanted to do it a long time ago. Since Haj was going on,
I simply tolerated everything and kept quiet. I was contemplating
on my next move only after the last flight for Haj. Accordingly
the last flight left on Saturday. I got myself convinced
about my decision. I left, leaving the message behind that
my resignation letter be handed over to the Chief Minister.
What
next?
How about the future! I will return. I will face everything.
I will take on this allegation and also all those who have
levelled charges against me. I will not run away.
You
resigned a day before the start of the Assembly session.
Will you not defend yourself in the Assembly?
It is a pity that I have been telling these people (who
have made the charge) all along over the past two years.
How much more need I tell them? How much more should I explain
my position? How much more should I say that the guilty
be punished? In that backdrop, there is no meaning in explaining
my stand to the same people.
Does
it mean that you will not come to the Assembly?
It is not like that. I am not showing any disrespect to
the Assembly by making my decision. I am unable to come
to the Assembly for personal reasons.
Is
there a better forum than the Assembly to face those who
have levelled charges against you? Will you not utilise
that opportunity?
I have already defended myself. However much I clarify about
my decision to those who are determined not to trust me,
it will not convince them.
But,
is there not also a new charge on you that you have resigned
in order to keep off dangers that may crop up in future?
Let others say anything. I have resigned out of disgust.
Is it not that the enquiry has now been handed over to CBI?
In future, law will take its own course. Let the guilty
in this scam face the punishment.
Enquiry
may take its own course. How about your predicament?
Time will tell everything. I am convinced that time will
heal all the pain inflicted so far. Some advised me not
to resign. But, how long shall I suffer this pain?
Is
it true that the Chief Minister will assign you party work?
I am ready for any kind of work. I will take on any responsibility
I will work anywhere. I will abide by the party's decisions.
