Ayurvedic principles on the subject of eating properly balanced meals, at the right time and in the right place, with concentration on food (but not on TV or paper) inevitably bring it into conflict with the increasingly popular activity of eating out, and a growing factor of delivering ready made meals to the home.

Fun and Food is the term used to describe the consumption of types or amounts of food that have nothing to do with normal dietary requirements. This can cause irreversible damage to digestive and metabolic functions, which may be attributed to a range of psychological disturbances such as stress, tension, depression and Physical conditions like Physical discomfort, belching and acidity etc. More importantly the type of food eaten for run is exactly the type, which can lead to weight gain.

Ayurveda the ancient philosophy based on a deep understanding of Eternal truths about the human body, mind and spirit is based on three humors- namely Vata, Pitta and Kapha, which govern the psychosomatic functions of an individual. These three functional humors circulate among the Structural units of the body and determine the health or illness of individual.

Food is one among the various other temptations, which many individuals find difficult to control. Food taken in optimum quantity helps to nourish the body and maintain health. The quantity of food taken is determined by "Agni" (Fire), which breaks down the substances we consume. Ayurveda recommends taking food till two- third of stomach on the basis of digestive fire. Rest one-third should be left for smooth functioning of digestive process. If any individual ignores this principle and eats to full quantity of stomach without leaving a space for digestive process, he / she is bound to have digestive disturbances.

In addition to quantity, quality of food also plays vital role in health of the individual.

An individual having dominance of Vata should restrain from eating spicy, fried cold substances while persons having a dominance of Kapha must better avoid excessive Sweets, Oils, Ghee and salt etc.

In these days where Health awareness is growing with alternative approaches like Yoga, Exercise, Meditation, everybody must also understand the "Principles of Eating" to keep doctor-medicine away.
