Mother
mistakes poison for syrup; two girls die: In a heart-rending
incident, two children died in Mudalakoppalu village,
when their mother administered poison mistaking it to
be syrup. Dejected over the death of her two children,
Devamma (mother) also consumed poison. However she was
rushed to K.R.Hospital.
Workshop
on dance forms: Raasavrunda School of Dance would
organize a workshop in the field of Rabindra-Natyam and
Odissi dance forms from May 15 to May 30. Guru Sri Valmiki
Banerjee and Guru Noopur Chatterjee would conduct the
workshop.
Local
body polls: BJP plans a comeback: The BJP, which failed
to make an impact in Zilla and Taluk panchayat elections,
launched a novel exercise "Choose your own candidate"
to make a comeback in the urban local bodies election
scheduled for May 3.
Samata
party to tie up with BJP: Samata Party State chief
K.Madegowda said that the party had marginal influence
in the State and it would enter into an alliance with
the BJP for the ensuing local body elections. The Samata
party would contest for around 20 seats in Mysore City
Corporation in alliance with BJP, Gowda said.
Dalits
should set aside differences-Prasad: Union Minister
for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution V.Shrinivasprasad
called upon Dalits to set aside differences and fight
for their legitimate rights of reservation. He was speaking
at the birth anniversary of B.R.Ambedkar and Babu Jagajivan
Ram organized by the district administration at Mysore.
Cut
ties with State Forum: The Karnataka State Government
SC/ST and Backward castes Employees Association decided
to disassociate itself from the Karnataka State Government
Employees Association (KSGEA).
