Lokayukta
official inspects roadwork:
Lokayuktha chief engineer Sham Rao inspected the work in
the 5 km Allur-Homa-Amble Road in Chamarajanagar taluk.
The roadwork had been taken up at a cost of Rs 28 lakh
under NABARD and it has raised doubts over the quality of
work taken up by the locals. The chief engineer and other
officials made a visit following Karnataka Rajya Raitha
Sangha activists complaints about the sub standard work
during Karnataka Lokayuktha Justice Venkatachala`s visit
to Chamarajnagar recently.
PG student's
suicide row ends:
Students return to classes after VC`s assurance.
Manasagangotri campus of Mysore University, which was
rocked by strife with class, boycotts, stir and counter
stir between students and teachers following a PG
student's suicide is limping back to normal. The students
who were on strike since the past 15 days demanding action
against Department of Students in Sociology chairperson,
Indira, and Reader Paresh Kumar called off their stir and
attended classes on Tuesday. The students had held Indira
responsible for the death of the student. They claimed
that awarding low marks to the student had led the student
to take the extreme step.

Samata forum takes out rally:
Members of the Samata forum took out a rally at
Manasagangotri campus to protest the recent developments,
which had tarnished the image of Indira, a professor at
the Sociology Department. The students had charged that
the professor had charged that the professor had
deliberately awarded low marks "which forced a
student to commit suicide". Defending the professor,
the Samata forum said the attempt was a bid to tarnish the
image of the professor and stated that the propaganda
would bring a bad name to the University.
150 more
sub-inspectors to be appointed from in-service- Home
Minister:
Home Minister Mallikarjuna Kharge promised to appoint 150
more sub-inspectors from in-service pool if the present
batch proved effective in discharging their duty. He was
presiding over the passing out parade of in-service
sub-inspectors in Mysore on Saturday. The minister stated
that the working of these sub-inspectors would be
monitored and further appointment would be based on their
performance.

BJP leader K S Eshwarappa launched a scathing attack on
Janata Dal and Congress at a party meeting organized to
kick off the poll campaign for Narasimharaja Assembly
constituency. He called upon the party men to prepare
themselves to face the onslaught of the two parties, which
could "utilize their money power to buy votes".
PM hiding facts
on Gujarat - Gowda:
The fact that the Prime Minister has rejected the demand
for a probe by a sitting Supreme Court Judge into the
Gujarat violence shows that he wants to hide certain
facts, said former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda. Speaking
to media persons here Gowda said an independent probe was
possible only if a Supreme Court Judge probes into the
matter. Coming down heavily on change of stand of the
Prime Minister in handling Gujarat violence, he said the
Sangh Parivar had prevailed upon the Prime Minister to
skirt the national agenda on governance.

transmission loss, KPTCL told:
Various organizations in the City have urged the State
Government not to increase power tariff they have demanded
immediate steps to be taken to minimize transmission loss
and check power thefts. At a meeting held here, they
termed the proposal before the Karnataka Electricity
Regulatory Commission seeking revision of power tariff as
anti-people. Speaking on the occasion, MLA A Ramadas said
they had urged the KERC to turn down the proposal of 30
per cent power tariff
