Sadashiva panel hearing again in March:
The Justice Sadashiva Commission, hearing alleged STF atrocities on the villagers during forest brigand Veerappan operation in 1990-93, has adjourned its next five days sitting for March 19. Justice Sadashiva and former CBI Director Narasimhan, who is also in this panel, hearing the STF men excesses, here at Dasoha Bhavan in Malai Mahadheshwara Hills have recorded 14 cases.

Former MLA K P Shanthamurthy joins Congress:
Former MLA and All India Veerashaiva Mahasabha State Former President K P Shanthamurthy has again joined congress party. Shanthamurthy had earlier won the elections on a congress ticket from Hannur Constituency in 1983. He later joined Janata Party and contested Parliamentary elections from Mysore Parliamentary Constituency against Shrikantadutta Narasimharaja Wodeyar and lost with a narrow margin.

Religious jatha at Suttur village:
Kannada and Culture Minister Rani Sathish called upon the people to educate and provide technological inputs in to innocent farmers. Speaking after inaugurating a religious jatha commemorating the birth anniversary of the JSS math founder pontiff Sri Shivarathri Shivayogi Swamiji, she said it is a social responsibility to provide information on agriculture to farmers.

Bengali student denied admission to BDS course, threatens suicide:
Kankana Das, a student from West Bengal, who lost almost a year seeking a seat in a private dental college in Mysore, has threatened to commit suicide before the college protesting the indifferent attitude of the college management. Kankana and her father were staying in Bangalore for the last 3 months trying to get a dental seat in the college. She said the Director of Medical Education had also directed the college to admit Kankana. "All orders were turned down by the Secretary of the college who sought Rs. 1 lakh for admission," she said.

150 Maharani's Arts College students ill after hostel dinner:
About 150 students of Maharani's Arts College who took ill after consuming dinner at their college hostel were admitted to K R Hospital. Hospital authorities suspected food poisoning while not ruling out water contamination. The students after partaking of dinner, developed acute stomachache and were taken to hospital late in the night. The college hostel has around 270 inmates. Dinner was served at 8 PM. It contained rice and curry with vegetables. Meanwhile, the city corporation health officers have secured water samples to ascertain whether contaminated water was the reason for the sickness.

I was tortured by the STF for belonging to Veerappan's caste:
Amase, wife of a one-time close aide of Veerappan, Meke Rangaswamy, suffered for almost a decade at the hands of the STF. Deposing before the Sadashiva Commission of Inquiry, she failed to recollect the date and year when she was picked up by the STF. However, what she was sure of was the fact that around 7 PM one day, 30-odd Tamil Nadu STF men walked into her tiny house. Amase, who was acquitted by the Special TADA court, recently, claimed that she pleaded with them to spare her as she had lost her ten-day old child that day and was yet to get over the grief.
