tortured by the STF for belonging to Veerappan's caste:
Amase, wife of a one-time close aide of Veerappan, Meke
Rangaswamy, suffered for almost a decade at the hands of
the STF. Deposing before the Sadashiva Commission of
Inquiry, she failed to recollect the date and year when
she was picked up by the STF. However, what she was sure
of was the fact that around 7 PM one day, 30-odd Tamil
Nadu STF men walked into her tiny house. Amase, who was
acquitted by the Special TADA court, recently, claimed
that she pleaded with them to spare her as she had lost
her ten-day old child that day and was yet to get over the
grief.
