BJP
protests arrest, holds dharna:
The BJP activists, led by city BJP President and MLA Mr.
Shankarlinge Gowda, staged a dharna in K.R.Circle protesting
against the arrest of former TN CM Mr. Karunanidhi on
corruption charges and assault on Union Ministers Marsoli
Maran and K.R.Balu. The BJP members raised slogans against
the Jayalalitha Government for inhuman behavior by the
police officials during the arrest of Mr. Karunanidhi
and his family members in the wee hours.
Government to launch new schemes for students:
Primary Education Minister H. Vishwanath said the Government
would launch novel programmes under the guidance of the
CM to revolutionize primary education in the state. The
CM S.M.Krishna would launch the new programmes on July
2, he said. The novel programmes would aim at making every
citizen, a literate in the state, he said.
No one will quit party:
MLA Ramdas: BJP leader and MLA Mr. A.Ramdas refuted that
BJP corporators, including the BJP MLA Shankarlinge Gowda's
son corporator Nandish Preetham would join the Congress.
Speaking to media persons at Mysore he further clarified
that no one would quit the party.

protest rally held: Mysore District Working Journalists'
Association members, took out a protest rally condemning
the arrest of a TV Channel reporter in TN. The rally was
taken through the main roads of city before the members
submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.
Mandate was for better governance:
Shrinivas Prasad: The mandate for AIADMK- led front
in TN was for better governance and not for party to wreak
the vengeance against the political detractors, said Union
Minister V. Shrinivas Prasad. Speaking at a function organized
by the Mysore Working Journalists Association at Mysore,
the minister condemned the arrest of former TN CM Mr.
Karunanidhi and Union Ministers by the TN police.
Scribes must sensitise society:

Shrinivas Prasad called upon the working journalists to
sensitise the society with objective reporting of facts
in their publications. Speaking at the function organized
by the District Working Journalists Association here at
Mysore Prasad said when the society was losing its sensitivity
towards various issues the fourth estate should wake up
to the cause.
Illegal power connection kills three elephants:
The man animal conflict on the edges of forests at Mysore
and Chamarajanagar districts has claimed three elephants
in two weeks, which has the forest officials and farmers
at loggerheads. It may be recalled that these elephants
died after coming into contact with live wires, which
were connected to the fence of agriculture lands.
