Government
for women empowerment through education: Vishwanath
Empowerment of women through education would be taken up
by the Government in right earnest, Primary Education
Minister H Vishwanath has said. Speaking at a function in
connection with the International Women's Day in Mysore,
he said economic and social development of women could be
achieved only "through education". Referring to
empowerment of women in villages, Vishwanath said the
Government has organized "sthree shakthi
groups". Banks have supported these organizations.
Change
attitude towards Dalits:
Education Minister Higher Education Minister G Parameshwar
said people's attitude to Dalits should change. Speaking
after inaugurating the Ambedkar Birth Anniversary
organized by the Mysore University Dalit Students'
Federation (UDSF) he said the international community,
which have no firsthand knowledge on untouchability have
wrong perceptions and assumptions.
BJP
activists stage dharna in city:
The BJP activists led by MLAs A Ramadas and H S
Shankarlinge Gowda staged a demonstration near the Deputy
Commissioner's office protesting against internal
terrorism. They demanded immediate arrest of all accused
involved in Godhra train arson and urged the Union
Government to order a high level enquiry.
Pejawar
seer's formula to end Ayodhya row:
Shri Vishweshatheertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt (Udupi) has
a formula to resolve the Ayodhya dispute, which he plans
to place before the rival sides and the Government. It
envisages the construction of the Ram Janmabhumi Temple
along with the provision for a mosque. The seer said here
at Mysore "the dispute should not culminate in the
triumph of one community over the other". There
should be no loser, he added. According to him, litigation
won't solve the problem.
Cong
candidates violating election norms, says JD (S):
JD (S) Jilla Panchayath members urged the Deputy
Commissioner and Election Officer to check congress
candidates who are contesting elections with false income
certificates claiming to be BCM-B candidates. The JD (S)
members, headed by party leader Balaram, Former Jilla
Panchayath President Nagaraj and others submitted a
memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.
Use
new bus stand, operators told:

Chandre Gowda has appealed to private bus operators to
operate from the newly constructed private bus stand on
New Sayyaji Rao Road. Speaking to media persons after
reviewing development works in the city, he said the
Government has spent Rs. 80 lakhs to construct the bus
stand. He assured to provide basic facilities.
Contractors
take out rally, seek bill clearance:
Members of Karnataka State Contractors' Association took
out a rally urging the State Government to clear all their
pending bills immediately. The contractors, who took out
the rally from Anjaneya Swamy Temple near Mysore Palace,
charged that the Government had not cleared the bills even
two years after the works were completed.
City
medical teachers demand basic facilities:
The Medical College Teachers' Association has urged Mysore
Medical College and K R Hospital superintendent to provide
basic infrastructure facilities. Association president H T
Chidananda has sought a 24-hour lab, emergency X-ray
facilities and OT facility with an extra table and
additional staff. They urged hospital superintendent
Chandrashekhar Shetty to fill-up vacant posts of doctors,
group "D" employees and technicians as per the
norms of the Medical Council of India.
