Dental college gets recognition: The
Royal College of Surgeons, London, has recognized JSS
Dental College and Hospital for training students for
FDS and MFDS examinations. The recognition would be for
5 years. The JSS Dental College and Hospital will be a
center for training as well as for preliminary examinations,
according to a press release.

KRRS demands CoD probe into spirit theft: Karnataka
Rajya Raitha Sangha president K.S.Puttaniah requested
the State Government to order a CoD probe into the misappropriation
at Mysore Sugar Mill, which led to extensive loss to the
company. He also said that the previous Government had
initiated CoD probe while the present Congress Government
has withdrawn the probe.

Co-op bank for farm labourers: The Karnataka Rajya
Raitha Sangha has launched the first ever agriculture
labourers' co-operative bank at Kyathanahalli with a membership
of around 4500. KRRS president K.S.Puttanniaha said, the
ambitious project would have members enrolled with a minimum
deposit of Rs.50 each. The bank would help the workers
out of the debt trap.

Civic polls: Siddaramiah wants Govt to follow court
direction: Former Deputy C.M and State JD (S) president
Siddaramiah urged the state government to conduct urban
local bodies election before April 19, as per the directions
of the court. He said the anti-farmer policies of the
State Government would result in the Janatha Dal winning
the civic polls. Referring to the State Government's plans
to move the Supreme Court to file special leave petition
seeking extension of time for holding elections, he said
"there was no necessity to go to court as the ongoing
session and census would not come in the way of elections".

Vishwanath asked to depose before Bar Association: The
Mysore Bar Association has served a notice on Primary
Education Minister H.Vishwanath in connection with the
recent controversy kicked up by his comments on advocates.
Advocates, who boycotted court proceedings for two days,
demanded the Minister's presence to substantiate his remarks
against the advocate community.

Attack on Buddha's statues condemned: The destruction
of Buddha statues and monuments in Afghanistan received
widespread criticism from various organizations in Mysore.

Two held for murder: The Nazarbad police have arrested
Prashanth and C.Kumaraswamy in connection with the murder
of a businessman Shivaram of Siddarthanagar. The police
have recovered vehicle, weapons used in the murder and
Rs.15000.

Mysore Bandh gets all party support: City-based organizations
including political parties have extended support to the
Mysore Bandh called by the Vikrant Tyres Employees' Union.
Lorry Owners' Association, Secretary M.Swamy has also
extended supported call for Bandh.
