    1. Minister may order CoD probe into fire mishap:Sugar Minister A.Krishnappa said the Government would not hesitate to order a CoD probe into the fire mishap at Pandavapura Co-operative Sugar Factory, which destroyed Rs. 4.4 crore worth sugar. He directed the authorities to immediately assess the loss and send a report to the Government and sought details from insurance, bank and excise departments.

    2. Mysore bandh near total:The bandh called by Vikrant Tyres employees and opposition political outfits threw normal life in the city and certain parts at outskirts out of gear on Monday. Business establishments and schools within the city remained closed. Vikrant workers blocked the K.R.Circle as part of their protest against the management's failure to hike wages in their factory.

    3. Summer spell: City may have to face water scarcity: The residents of Mysore, who had faced acute water scarcity last year, might be in for a similar spells this year also, if the KRS reservoir level is anything to go by. The water level at the KRS reservoir, a main source of drinking water to Mysore city, on Tuesday stood at 98.61 ft against the maximum of 124.80 ft. The level at the reservoir was 97.38 ft. last year.

    4. 10 ft. statue to guard Gujarat from calamities: Quake-hit Gujarat has a solace now from Mysore-a 10-foot stone-carved statue of Adithirthanakara to be installed there to avert any calamities in the Godforsaken place. City-based sculptures have added one more feather to their crown with the chiseling of a 10-foot, 22 tones statue of Bhagawan Shri Rushaba Thirthanakara. This would be installed in Gujarat to ensure peace and prosperity.

    5. Vikrant employees call off strike: The Vikrant Tyres Ltd. Employees, who were on an indefinite strike for over two months, urging the management to meet their demands, have called off their strike and went to perform their duties. Former MLA and CITU leader Suryanarayan Rao announced this after holding Union's executive committee meeting.

    6. Protest on hike in tax: Activists of tax payers' forum led by BJP leaders lay siege of the corporation office protesting against the hike in revision of property tax. They charged that the revised tax was unscientific and said they would pay old tax fixed by the corporation. MLA A.Ramdas will lead a delegation to the Chief Minister to apprise them of the alleged lapses in revision of tax.

    7. Foreign investment in stock market may reach $ 4 billion: The country could attract $3-4 billion fresh FII inflow every year, if corporate generates the sustained interest of global investors in our stock market, said Unit Trust of India chairman P.S.Subramanyam. He was speaking the convocation address at the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development here at Mysore.

    8. Vajpayee Government must resign: Siddaramaiah: The NDA Government has lost its moral authority to continue in power and PM A.B.Vajpayee should bow out, said Janatha Dal (S) State chief Siddaramaiah. Speaking to media persons, the former deputy chief minister said that accepting graft money in defence deals amounted to "anti national activities and Vajpayee can not continue in power even for a moment".

    9. JSS to hold national conference: The JSS Mahavidyapeeta and its composite JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science have organized a two-day national conference on Globalization, Liberalization and Privatization. Speaking to media persons JSS College Principal Chandrashekaraiah said that they decided to choose this particular subject for the conference, as it is a contemporary issue in the country.
