Post Graduate Aspirants Group: Karnataka State Junior Doctors' Association (KSJDA)

A Fight for our rights
Merit Vs Might

Plan of Action

1. Dr R.R Patil has begun and has almost won the battle against the Govt and the management of private medical and dental colleges. Being  part of the Medical community, its our duty to extend all possible support to him. He has not only given us the initiative but is also ready to guide, support and lead us in the big fight. Dr. R.R. Patil, former principal S.Nijalingappa College had filed a Public Interest Litigation before the honorable High Court on 06-08- 2001 and the case has been already heard on 29-08-2001, 30-08-2001, 03-09-2001, 20-09-2001, 03-10-2001. An interim order was passed on 30-08-2001 upholding the M.C.I. regulations and stopping all admission processes in states till the final verdict is delivered. The Honorable High Court will deliver the final verdict after hearing the case for 3 days continuously on 29,30,31 of October 2001. All PG courses for this academic year (2001-02) would begin only after the Honorable High Court delivers its final verdict.

2. Even the opponents know that their loss is imminent in the High Court. But they are not going to stop in the high court. Rs.100 crores is at stake and hence the private college management is expected to appeal to the supreme court.

3. We should be prepared for that. Hence the mobilization of funds and support from all quarters.

4. We should pledge our support to the petitioner Dr. R.R. Patil, who has been courageously fighting for the welfare of student community. We are aware that this legal battle is between "MIGHT" and "MERIT". We know that our merit against the mighty political and monetary heavy weights may be suppressed.

5. Let us be totally prepared for everything. Lets mobilize the funds to the tune of at least Rs 2,00,000 at the earliest (by 25 October 2001) so as to meet the legal expenses in the Supreme Court.

How can You help us ?
1. We request you all to extend your voice, moral and monetary support for this fight that involves enormous legal expenses in the Supreme Court. This fight is not just for the current academic year aspirants, but also for next year batch and the generations to follow.
