Even though Kothi Nani introduced me to the Bangalore underworld he never cautioned me. He introduced me to a person who had served in Indian Army by name Malik alias Malli, an ex major. He is older than me and belongs to Dharmapuri district of Tamilnadu. Later, he became a right hand to Muttu Roy and murdered the notorious gangster Pete Kumara and gave a new dimension to the Bangalore underworld. His friendship gave me a chance to live in the underworld of Bangalore. He became my philosopher and guide. But I never took any part directly in any of his underworld activities.

With all these I never had any type of relationship either of finance or any such commitments with him. We were true friends. He introduced me to all the number 2 business addaas in Bangalore. In that I showed my interest in the business of drugs and in the supply of drugs only.

In 1990, first week of August, one day by 2 p.m. in the afternoon my associate Suresh, and I along with Kothi Nani went to a restaurant in Shivajinagar as per our arrangement earlier to meet Malli. Kothi Nani introduced me to Malli. At that time Malli "kyaare chotoooo? If I punch you, you will land a furlong away. After all, accidentally you might have assaulted a person at Mysore. But such things will never carry any weight in Bangalore. Can you really live here? Let us see if you have the guts. For a few days you stay with me and have some experience of all the dhandhaas" telling this he took my associate Suresh and me to Alsoor. Kothi Nani told Malli "As you have said this chotu will be a helpful person for you. Take care of him. Give him all types of training." Before bidding a Good bye Kothi Nani gave me Rs.5000 and left for Mysore. But Kothi Nani was murdered by some of the Phailwans within a month. Even now, if that incidence comes to my mind, I weep over it.

Malik was a very tough person. When you look at him we always felt that he was so strong that he can attack 5-6 people at a time. Anyhow he was a man from the army. He was a man from the army. He was a straightforward man. Its that quality which attracted me to him. Before I was introduced to him he had made a name for himself in Bangalore. Malli got me a room at Alsoor. "Chotu! When I look at you I have a soft corner towards you. I had never felt the same at any time in my life about anybody. But when I looked at you I have some feelings. I don't know why. There is lot of things to talk with you. Take rest for yourself. I shall come and meet you in the evening." He left the room.

In the evening I along with Malli and Suresh went to a BAR in M.G.Road to spend our time. Malli acquainted himself about every incident, which had happened in my life and my emotions and opinions about that. In the same way, he also shared his feelings with me. Malli gave me a dagger as a presentation. It was the first gift I got. From then onwards I took him as elder brother and started calling him as "Malli Bhai". He felt very happy. Malli bhai advised me as follows: "Chotu! In underworld, you should never believe anybody. You should always have a negative thinking and approach. At any cost you should never have any contact with any woman. You must know that your first enemies are police. Always you must have a hawk's eye on them. Under any circumstances you should never be sentimental. You should never spend a luxurious life. Follow all these things. Today or tomorrow you will carve your name on the stone of underworld."

We had a long chat as said above for a long time and later on we came out of the BAR. Afterwards all the three of us came back to our room and had a long discussion till midnight. Malli told me "Chotu, I shall join you for the morning break fast. Good night." He went to his house afterwards. The next day after finishing the break fast we went for boating in the Alsoor Lake and planned for some activities.

"Mr.Chotu! If you want to live you must have some other business. Have you ever thought of that?" Malli asked me. "Malli Bhai! As I am new to Bangalore I don't know what I should do. So I will go to Mysore and get some money for investment. I am having some ideas. I shall see how it materializes. I shall come back with some money very soon."

"Mr.Chotu! Be careful. This is your first operation. Handle it carefully. You start it today evening itself. Good luck. As your name is already in the police list, be careful."

I along with my sisya came back to Mysore on the second week of August for my first operation. My first operation was looting. My sisya asked me "what guroooo? You have brought me to Mysore. What have you decided?" I told him "do you know that sandal wood smuggler Haneef?" "YES, YES. I know him. But what you can do with him?" "Do as I say. Don't unnecessarily poke your nose. Just co-operate."

As soon as we came to Mysore we took a room in the hotel Highway. Leaving Suresh in the room itself, the next day morning, I went to him. He started talking to me. "Hellooo Manjaaa!!! What an unexpected meeting!!!! The police are behind you. What is the matter?" "Nothing of that sort Haneef. I had assaulted that Shashi you see. He might have given the complaint. After all it is not a big issue. You leave it. There is lot of things to be done. Let us discuss about why I have come here. At present I am very badly in need of Rs.50000/- If there is any work in your addaa let me know. I shall finish it."

Haneef told me "What Manjaaa? What has happened to you? Why are you unnecessarily getting involved in such dirty things? Look. Even now you think about that. Once you get involved in such activities you can never come back. Even if you want to leave that the police will never allow you to do so. But there is no harm for me." "Haneef, now don't talk about that. Will you get me a job or not? Or else will you get me Rs.50000?"

At last Haneef made a decision. "I will give you 2 boys and one ambassador car. I shall give you all the information. There is a village Halli Mysore on the K.R.Nagar-Holenarasipur road. Near that village there is a sandal wood tree, which may weigh about 600-700 kgs. You get it cleaned and dressed. After making it into pieces go to Bangalore and meet my partner at Shivajinagar who is well versed in this dhandhaa. Transport it directly to Bangalore. He will give you Rs.75000/ cash. Be careful. As this is your first operation handle it carefully." He gave me 5000Rs advance and got me an ambassador car for rent. He asked me to leave on the same evening. On the same night I started towards that village along with my associates. Intentionally we reached that place by 12 p.m.

It was a horrible sight to see. We were under stuck. Some other gang had already come there and started cutting the tree with an axe. Immediately my brain started working. I ordered the driver "Look here, nobody should get down from the car. You go on doing the head light dim and dip and slowly take the car near the tree." "Suresh! Keep all the weapons ready." I told the other two boys to become a little bit active. Like a wounded tiger I started roaring with having my weapon ready suddenly I rushed towards the tree.
