Memoirs of Manja

Part 3

We caught hold of the weakest man in their gang and I ordered them "Nobody should move. You leave everything you have and vacate the place immediately"- I roared.

A person from that gang came to me and in a compromising tone " Friend! You have also come for the same operation. We are of the same business. Let us compromise for fifty-fifty. What do you say?"

"Ok. Let it be so" I agreed.

I sat near my car along with that person and the driver. The rest were involved in their work. By 5 o'clock in the morning the work was finished. We filled the gunny bags with sandal wood pieces. Here I want to tell one thing to the reader that in the underworld cheating is natural and mostly a must. As I was very badly in need of money I decided to cheat this person.. I started talking to him and told him "Mr.! You fix a price for the share you get. I shall give to you and you leave the goods here."

At least he agreed for Rs.15000. I told him " I have only 3000/- with me. You take it and give it to your boys. You come along with me to Mysore. The rest I shall give there". He sat in our car believing us. He sent his boys and accompanied us in our car. But the car took the road towards Bangalore. Looking at this that man cried, "What is this? Telling me that you are taking me to Mysore, now you have changed the root."

"Don't talk. You simply come with us. After all you want money, isn't it?" But he never agreed. He started protesting. At that time I asked my associate Suresh " What are you thinking? You hit him".

He cried "Cheats! I know what I should do. I shall give a complaint to the police". I could not resist my anger. Catching hold of his neck " Shut your mouth. If you talk unnecessarily I shall finish you. If you listen to what all I say you will get at least some money. Otherwise you may loose your life also". Then he kept silent.

But I had my own doubts about that man. I thought that he might give complaint to the police. So tying his mouth with a piece of cloth we dragged him out of the car in a lonely place and tied him to a tree. Afterwards we took the goods to Bangalore as per the instruction of Haneef. We settled for a big amount of 75000/-

We went to see Malli Bhai. I felt very happy and the amount was enough to inspire to get involved in the underworld activities. I don't know how Malli Bhai took this incidence. Anyhow he felt very happy. "Oh Chotu! You are good enough. At least you can have some time to breath. You need not worry now. As I told earlier you start doing the number 2 dhandhaas".

These words elevated me. Without even thinking I started behaving too much cruelly. As I got 75000/ in the very first adventure itself, many dreams started haunting me. I became over joyous. I started distancing myself from Malli Bhai temporarily though not permanently. Even Malli Bhai's intention was same, that I should become completely independent. As per the earlier instruction of Malli Bhai I met a drug trafficker by name Ismail through Koli Fayaz of shivajinagar. The 90% of underworld business of Bangalore takes place in Shivajinagar itself. Koli Fayaz has made such a name in such addaas, which is just like getting the powers of a P.M.

Straight away I started talking business with Ismail. He showed me addaas where I could get drugs for a low price. That was in Biligiriranga Hills. As the next day was Sunday, I started with Ismail and Suresh towards B.R.Hills on Saturday evening itself. There were only tribes who did not know kannada. They were speaking their own colloquial language. As soon as they met us, they knew our purpose of visit. We became one with them and had a good friendship. We started our dealings, discussed with them and fixed a price of Rs.3200 per k.g. of ganja and purchased 5 k.gs. It was very tedious and risky job to bring it to Bangalore. At last we came to Shivajinagar, Bangalore. As this was my first experience I was a little bit afraid and nervous. But later on everything went smoothly.

Now I had the goods with me. But what to do with that? How to do business? Which is the good place to do it? I have only 25000/ cash on my hand. Hundreds of question like this haunted me. I went to Malli Bhai's addaa and met him. I told him everything. "Even if you start business through agents in Bangalore you will not get more than Rs.15000 per k.g. If you start doing business like this you will never come up. Using your brains in this field you learn the ways of coming up. To tell you frankly, the good place for such business is Goa" it was the advice of Malli Bhai to me.

"Where is that Goa? How to reach that place? How to start business there?" I questioned him.

"What are you barking? Are you joking? Bastard. In the beginning everybody will tell like this. Afterwards they will get smart and prosper! Even if you are put inside under NDPS Act, don't worry about that. Jail itself is a big market for your business. Even if you are sent inside I know how to get you released. You have 25000/ isn't it? Go and enjoy in Goa."

The news that I am going to Goa made my sisya Suresh tremble but I took a decision at last. As a sample I took half k.g. of ganja and packed it, kept inside my luggage bag, taking all the care that no smell comes out and boarded a bus to Panjim, the capital of Goa.

"After all what is this GOA, I shall see" I thought.
