I am very thankful to OKC for giving me a good brief in
their website. It is because of them I have got some economical
aid. I want to convey my regards to Mrs. Arathi Devaraj
residing at Switzerland, who has sent a cheque of 200 US
$ recently.
I
have started keeping the records of the snakes caught since
a year. I have captured about 5686 snakes till now and set
them all free in the thick forests of Karnataka. Last week
I have captured about 80 snakes, of which 60 were cobras.
The snakes captured were set free in Nagarahole forest,
conveyance being my own. The next batch of snakes captured
will be released in the Thithimatti forests of Coorg on
16th of this month.
Many
times when I get a call I will go there immediately. A few
days back I got a call from Ramakrishnanagar. I told him
that I might be late by a couple of minutes because of a
minor problem in my vehicle. When I reached there I was
exactly one minute late. But unfortunately they had killed
the cobra, which was about 5 feet long. I was very much
upset and scolded and warned them not to do so in the future.
I
was invited to catch a cobra in Sharadavilas Girls High
School. The cobra was there in the classroom itself. The
whole staff and students of the school were panicky. I went
there and caught hold of the snake, put it inside my bag
and tied. As soon as the snake was captured there was no
single person even to thank me. I don't complain. But people
should not be so much ungrateful, that too the teachers,
who are considered to be nation builders. After all this
is in the game.
Once
I had been to a house in Madhuvan layout to catch a snake.
As soon as I finished my work, the lady of the house gave
100 Rs. note to her son. I was there only. I had seen the
note. But for my astonishment when the boy handed it over
to me it was just Rs. 50 note. The boy must be a wizard!!!
A
friend of mine took me to Jayanagar to his friend's place
to catch a snake. After catching the snake, the owner of
the house offered me Rs. 100 as gesture. Surprisingly, my
friend immediately told, "After all Shyam is my friend.
You need not give him Rs. 100. Just Rs. 50 will do". This
is how friends take undue advantage of my friendship. They
don't know how much I am spending on my phones, conveyance
etc. Along with that I have to support my family also. I
have no other sources of earning except plying my auto-rickshaw.
Last time my mobile phone (donated by Mr. Anwarji, a social
worker) bill was about Rs. 2000. I am very thankful to Mr.
Adarsh, who paid the bill. I am very much grateful to him
for his kind and timely gesture.
I
will be back next week with some more interesting incidents.
Shyam.
