There is an allegation that you have incurred more expenditure in the process of strictly implementing the regulations than the ceiling on expenditure that has been fixed for the candidates? Everyone, including common man, feels that 2008 Assembly election is going to be totally different. If you endorse this view, in what way is it different? Yes, it is really different all over the State so also in Chamaraja constituency. During my campaign trail I was surprised to find that the people this time are yearning for a change and for a new face to represent them. Having seen the 20 - month disgusting misrule of JD(S) and BJP, the educated voters and common man alike are joining the Congress wave. Read On

Interview with Kapil Sibal: Do not play politics with hunger
Congress says it will encourage young party workers. But then we don’t see too many young Congressmen who have got a ticket? Well, we didn't say young, we said new faces. This election, in Karnataka 40 % of the tickets have been given to new faces. I would also like to mention that we are the only party that has not given tickets to “relatives”. Bally Sagoo in Da House
Considering that new DJs are born by the day, what is the “one thing” that is essential to keep a DJ competent and give an edge? “Read the crowd”. It is important to play what the crowd wants and not always what a DJ likes. I have a huge music collection and I spend thousands of pounds to keep myself updated on the latest happenings and to get new ideas. I study the leaf and the video of various artistes to see the effort that has gone in. I am now living the dream that I dreamt and have opened the doors for someone to say "I want to be like him." I also did some study on Ganjifa that was in vogue during the period of Krishnaraja Wadiyar III of Mysore. Read On

Animal electricity! “BovinEl” power stations for every street of rural India
The concept of generating BovinEl power is downright simple and is based on India’s age-old technology of animal – driven oil mills or oil presses (called “gaaNa,” “gaaNamu,” “gaaNi,” “kolhu,” “chekku,” etc., in different parts of India). The original, country – made oil mill consisted of a wooden mortar and a pestle. The mortar used to be fixed to the ground and the pestle, with oilseeds compressed under it, used to be rotated by one bullock or a pair attached to it by a yoke. The seeds would thus be crushed by the friction and pressure generated. Read On

Interview with Narayana Murthy: "Follow Your Bliss", Narayana Murthy tells Youth
You are retiring at 60, which is very young by today's norm. Why this early retirement? Yes it is, but I will retire. I believe in making room for the youth. We have to give other people a chance and more importantly a chance for the youngsters to show their skill and prove themselves. Look at our politicians, we have Ministers who are so old that they cannot even remember the last question asked, but then they still want to hold on to their seats instead of making way for new talent and youth. Some of them are so old that they don't even remember which board meeting they are sitting in.

M. S. Sathyu tells Film Makers: Take criticisms sportively
What do you feel about the film industry of the '70s and now? These days, films are blindly made. Their names and heroes may differ, but the story, frame and other aspects are the same — sex and violence. There is no novelty in Kannada films these days. It appears, actors like Sudeep, Darshan and others feel that showing weapons and muscle power is acting. It should change. Read On

Interview with Mr Praveen Sood, Mysore City Police Chief
Is it true that many cases either traffic or otherwise, are booked for the purpose of monthly record, which is mandatory for your department? Why not all through the month, which will instill fear of law in the hearts of drivers? This is a wrong notion. Traffic Police do their duty everyday except on holidays. We collect a sum of Rs. 40 to 50 thousand everyday as fines. We collect about Rs.8 to Rs.10 lakh as fine every month. Read On

Interview with Vyjayanthimala Bali
Your exposure and involvement in dance. Do you think it helped in your film career? I have reaped a lot of benefit being a dancer. Practising and performing dance are equivalent to practising yoga. It has helped me to be strong mentally and physically and to concentrate. You see how agile I am. Read On

The Corporators lack will power and are engaged in water politics to convert their wards into vote banks. In view of all this it appears that at least 15 years are needed to solve the water crisis to some extent. Read On
